Mission & Plan

Preparing a Better Future through Global Consciousness

"We are at a point in human history when there is an urgent need for change. The old ways are just not working. Many of our current problems seem to be repeats from the past. At best, these issues are systematic; at worst, they are acute. Either way, there are too many apparently unsolvable issues. We have global problems involving crime, hostility, culture and religion, security, terrorism, overpopulation, poverty, global warming, the environment, pollution. Even our youth have their issues. College students face an alarming number of worries, including pressures of school, social acceptance, drugs, relationships, physical appearance, gangs, peer pressure, student loans, even information overload."

Vision

To inspire our leaders of tomorrow to attain conscious awareness, as outlined in the book Turning the Self Inside Out, as a means of directing a future towards a common good.

Goal

To cultivate a team of young adults who will promote, practice, implement positive societal changes that will directly affect the self, the tribe, and the community.

Plan

1. Create two tribes* of ten who are passionate and care deeply about the concept of a global consciousness and stewardship (see below).

2.  Each tribe member will encourage and mentor three new tribe members.

3. The leader and tribe members will engage in the social media venue: Twitter, MeetingUp, Facebook, Blogger, Squidoo, Second Life, personal website, YouTube, Linkedin, Podcasts, RSS in order to encourage growth of our tribes.

4. The leader will initiate: monthly book clubs, workshop presentations and seminars, school (particularly leadership and global stewardship programs, student services), and church group presentations.

5. The tribe will identify and send out letters, emails, faxes, promotional material, free book copies to: schools, church groups, Encounters Canada, Common Ground and the like.

6. The leader and primary tribe members will utilize our weblog (www.turningselfinsideout.blogspot.com) to answer individual questions and initiate a newsletter.

7. The leader will interview and transcribe individual stories (experiences, adventures) that will be posted on the weblog.

8. The leader and primary tribe members will identify and solicit celebrities to promote the vision.

* a group of people who have a shared interest, want to communicate and have a strong desire for change based on a described goal (idea taken from Seth Godin's book Tribes)

Global Consciousness

People tend to process reality from their personalized perspective. Whereas global consciousness is the ability to stand back and view their life and relationships with others from a spiritual dimension and enter the more expansive space of a universal mindset.
